‘The Spirit Almanac’ Book Study
February 7 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus is hosting a book study discussion of “The Spirit Almanac: A Modern Guide to Ancient Self-Care” by Emma Loewe and Lindsay Kellner.
The first book study will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 in the Museum. Additional meetings will be scheduled in March, May, July, September and November once the study group is formed.
The book study will be a journey into the understanding of one’s self and spirit, said Ellen Hahs curator of education at the Museum.
Participants will learn, share and discuss their personal understanding, discoveries, interpretations and decisions related to a variety of seasonal content. Additionally, overviews of the ancient uses of crystals, herbs, essential oils, astrology, tarot, meditation and breathing will also be introduced.
“If you’re seeking to create an accessible, meaningful relationship with yourself via your personal practices, the science-based and spirit-rich offerings in ‘The Spirit Almanac’ are calling to you,” said Elena Brower, author of the best-selling book “Practice You and Art of Attention.”
Organizers hope that by studying “The Spirit Almanac,” participants will make it a priority to reserve moments of personal time to take care of themselves with their own transformational practice, Hahs added. It is hoped the book will offer readers new insights on becoming aware of personal realizations, feelings of calmness and gratitude.
Preregistration is due by Jan. 31. “The Spirit Almanac” is available for purchase through the Museum.
