September 8 - October 1

Event Navigation

“Of Myth and Fable” is an exhibition of works by Southeast student artists Erin Ashwell and Gwendolyn Sterrett.

A reception will be held Friday, Oct. 1 from 5-7 p.m. Additionally, an artist’s talk will be held Thursday, Sept. 30 from 6-7 p.m. in the River Campus Gallery. Face coverings are required.

Ashwell is a senior fine arts major with dual emphases in graphic design and printmaking from House Spring, Missouri. Her work draws inspiration from all walks of life. She loves to work with a variety of mediums and is especially interested in portraiture.

Sterrett is a senior fine arts major with an emphasis in digital art from Chester, Illinois. She is influenced by a variety of disciplines, including graphic design and illustration.

Since humans could talk, they have created stories that teach, inspire and frighten. “Of Myth and Fable” explores some of the most notable stories spanning both time and culture. Ashwell and Sterrett’s works focus on myths and fables from their childhood. This body of work is their effort to continue the legacy of these unforgettable stories through a visual interpretation. The exhibition showcases several mediums from both artists.

The Nest Gallery is located on the first floor of the Seminary Building and is an intimate exhibition space reserved for Southeast students interested in group exhibitions. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 1-4 p.m. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public.
