The Clothesline Project Display
October 1, 2019 - October 3, 2019Free
October is recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month to shed light on the epidemic of domestic and dating violence. The Campus Violence Prevention Program, in collaboration with Southeast’s Redhawks Rising and Redhawk Health Educators, will host the annual Clothesline Project from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today, Oct. 1, through Oct. 3 on Normal Avenue outside the University Center.
The Clothesline Project is a powerful public display of what is too often considered a private matter. The visual display of T-shirts with graphic messages and illustrations are designed by survivors of domestic and dating violence to give voice to their story.
Survivors of domestic and dating violence are invited to design a T-shirt portraying their experiences with violence, victimization and healing as an exercise in art therapy. The allies of survivors of domestic and dating violence are welcome to decorate large clothespins to hold up the T-shirts and show their support for survivors. T-shirts, clothespins and decorating supplies will be provided by the Campus Violence Prevention Program.
The rain-out location is the University Center lobby. For more information, please contact email@example.com.
