NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary

Four members of the Southeast Missouri track & field team have qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships preliminary competition, the NCAA announced Thursday.
Marc Maton, Stephen Zagurski, Jonno Engelking and Richard Vinson will head to Sacramento, California, for the NCAA Division I Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships West Preliminary at California State University, Sacramento May 24-26.
Maton will compete in the 1500 meters. He finished fourth in the race at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship with a time of 3:53.96.
Zagurski has qualified for the hammer throw and won silver at the 2018 OVC Championship with a mark of 200-6 (61.12m).
Both Engelking and Vinson will compete in the javelin at the West Preliminary. Engelking, the 2018 OVC Male Co-Field Athlete of the Year, earned gold at the league championship with a Southeast program-best javelin throw of 242-5 (73.89m). Vinson finished second at the OVC Championship for silver with a toss of 198-10 (60.60m).
The qualifiers out of the West Preliminary and East Preliminary at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, will compete in the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.
