Catapult Exhibition: ‘Flowers: Pointless or Purity’
September 7 - September 25
The Catapult Creative House Student Studios’ Artist of the Month exhibition series opens the 2018-2019 season with “Flowers: Pointless or Purity,” featuring the work of Southeast Missouri State University student artist Darian Norfleet.
Often the ubiquity of nature has a tendency to belie its allure, and as a result people habitually miss nuanced moments of delight. Luscious and intimate, Norfleet’s photographs speak to the beauty within these moments, from the enchanting ivory colored cap of a mushroom to the rich hue of a zinnia. His photographs evoke the inclusive spirit of Victorian botany and stand as portraits of an individual; singular yet monumental, they are a totem of nature’s beauty.
The opening reception is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. Sept. 7 as part of Cape Girardeau’s First Friday downtown arts events. The exhibition will be on display through Sept. 25 on the second floor of Catapult Creative House.
