David Pietrusza will present “1948: Harry Truman’s Improbable Victory and the Year that Transformed America” at a lecture at 7:00 p.m. October 24 in the Kem Statuary Hall in the Wehking Alumni Center at Southeast Missouri State University. The lecture — which is sponsored by the Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Religion — will examine the impact of Harry Truman’s election and its impact on America.

Pietrusza has centered his historical scholarship on American presidential campaigns, and presidents and heads of states biographies. He is the author of “TR’s Last War: Theodore Roosevelt, The Great War, and a Journey of Triumph and Tragedy”, “1932: The Rise of Hitler & FDR – Two Tales of Politics, Betrayal, and Unlikely Destiny”, “1920: The Year of the Six Presidents”, “1948: Harry Truman’s Improbable Victory and the Year that Transformed America”, including many others.
